TULIP SEASON

As of this time of writing (4/25/2023), you have about a week left to go see the Skagit Valley tulips in bloom in the fields and demonstration gardens. The season starts anywhere from early to mid April – depending on the weather – and runs for about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. Here in 2023, we had a cold spring and thus a late start to the season, which is expected to end in the first week of May. If you are reading this in future years, here are two websites that give updates on the blooming season:

We highly recommend that you take a day off and visit on a weekday. The narrow country roads that cut through the tulip fields are absolutely overwhelmed on weekends. If you must go on a weekend, shoot to arrive in the mid morning.

Next question is where to go? Head for one of the four demonstration gardens:

These photos are from RoozenGaarde on 4/14/2023. RoozenGaarde is very well organized with a large parking lot across the road, plenty of bathrooms, a couple shops, refreshments, beautiful gardens, and tulip and daffodil fields you can wander through – all with a Cascade mountain backdrop. A sight not to be missed! Here and there you could stop at the side of blooming tulip and daffodil fields, but the pull out opportunities are limited.

Good luck! Let us know how your experience went.
